Picnic
by Mary Ann Meade

Over wine and salt,
kin talk on and on
of war, Lot's wife
not eating, not...

Who packed the world,
forgot to cover it
from the heat,
the long attrition.

Who forgot
to keep the children
from fly and
wasp and fray.

Lot's wife not...
over wine and salt
and shards
of summer hay.
