More Successful
by Bob McCranie

Every morning I wake thinking of you
your quiet scent lingers on the pillow.
You think you'll be more successful

if you lose some weight. We spend tonight
with videos, talking, holding close, your laugh.
Every morning I wake thinking of you

wonder why you won't stay longer. What
should I say, or not, to convince you.
You think you'll be more successful

if you can get a better job, leave your
parent's grasp, find "love", start working out
every morning. I wake thinking of you

in my song. Every tune now says something
more I wish you could hear in my voice.
You think you'll be more successful

forty pounds lighter, better clothes,
parents impressed, every bill paid.
Every morning I wake thinking of you
You think you'll be more successful.
