House Shudders
by Richard Dinges Jr.

A house shudders
from doors slammed
distantly. Wood
floors tremble,
boards an extension
of my soles.
I lift up my feet
when you vacuum,
another disruption,
sucking the air
from the room
when you enter,
another door opened
then closed
with the silence
of an earthquake.
