Lyric 14
by Mike Faran

Let us use slim words,
narrow cool words
here in the open fields
of middle America

Let the city stagger in
red robes.
swirling gowns of gold

Let us be quiet with
compassion in dust-green
places,

fishing out songs from an
ocean of stars

Light.
Blue light shining on our
cheeks,
calm in our souls

Let us whisper like morning
birds into
the ears of the human
