At The Barbecue Place
by Benjamin Nash

In the fizz,
in the foam,
as if dipped in oil,
as if swimming in the Gulf of Mexico,

a thick sauce to cut through,
a smoky brown,
brown pelican,
bubble up

Coke,
and
a sun potato salad,
a brown paper bag as

brown as the walls,
the photos,
the blue
marlin.
