In Tibet
by Larry D. Thomas

a day breaks
like the silent crack
of a branch.

A child
rubs sleep
from her eyes.

Each moment
is a tome
of history.

In the mountains
a single sound
from the throat

of a monk
harbors a choir
of nine voices.
