Penciled Tombstone
by Diane Webster

Erasing Tonya’s name
in my address book
would be the ocean reclaiming
sand built into a castle
until not even a lump remains…
memories molded
by time and age are unique
to me as I leave
Tonya’s name and address
like a final resting place,
a penciled tombstone
I’ve dug a moat around
to save a bit longer,
longer than the time
we were friends together.
