Water Lilies (Monet)
by John P. Kristofco

people come through traffic, lines,
wait to find the quiet pond,
see where someone stopped to listen once
to yellow, green, and blue,
whisper of eternal life,
water, sky,
petals, peace, hope
that holds them like the pool
holds the painter's gentle hand
rendered like all things that come and go,
lilies,
the colors, shapes, and shadow of his soul
