Ocean Song
by Doug Bolling

Pull of water far out and forever

We came as lovers___naked

to what the songs of surf and tide

__________________might bring

Day by day we witnessed the dunes

______in their ever-changing grace

How they lifted and sank to the

______warpings of wind

______fresh from the sea

We gathered wrack from a dozen shipwrecks

______and made a fire to

______whatever the gods

_______________and where

We swam far out beyond the last buoy

to prove our love in face of death

___At night we watched as moon dropped

just beyond the sandbars so close we

___could reach out and touch

We grew old and died

___and became small stars

_________among the endless water.
