Rainy Morning on the Canadian River
by Ken Hada

The way the clouds cluster into clumps
darker layers covering dark layers
decorate a course of river, grays
and blues hovering above ready sand
a triumph of art in the wilderness.

Look upstream with me and read
the proofs slowly falling toward
an unseen sea – the sage reaching
sandy shores – scattered raindrops
sweeping pastures nearby.
